PROFILE:
With its focus on central Sussex County, the Sussex Post
offers more penetration of Georgetown, Millsboro,
Selbyville and surrounding communities than any other
media in the area.
The
Sussex Post delivers the largest circulation in Sussex
County. It is the only newspaper to cover central Sussex
thoroughly, including the picturesque county seat of
Georgetown, the shopping and employment center of
Millsboro and the fast-growing retirement communities
along Indian River.
From Millsboro, many coastal and major cities are within
easy driving distances, such as Baltimore (101 miles),
Washington, D.C. (115 miles), Philadelphia (122 miles)
and Rehoboth Beach (30 miles). This easy accessibility
mixed with farm, field, forest, pond, state parks,
moderate weather, low taxes and excellent real estate
values has become increasingly attractive to retirement
living, vacationing crowds and year-round families
escaping to the relaxed rural settings. But, all is not still and placid. Millsboro's Townsend's,
Inc. has become the nation's first fully integrated
poultry company with every aspect of poultry growing
under its control. Meanwhile, the state's various
banking acts have created a sudden and significant
impact with a burgeoning financial industry.
Our Purpose…
The Sussex Post is published by a unique trust that enables this
newspaper to pursue a mission of journalistic service to the
citizens of the community. Since no dividends are paid, the company
is able to thrive on profit margins below industry standards. All
after-tax surpluses are reinvested in Independent’s mission of
journalistic service, commitment to the ideals of the First
Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, and support of the community’s
deliberation of public issues.
